Coral spawning is a synchronized event where corals release countless egg and sperm cells, creating a mesmerizing underwater display. These cells, floating upwards, resemble a massive blizzard of white and pink, transforming the sea into a surreal, colorful spectacle. This event typically happens once a year, turning parts of the ocean into hues of yellow and pink.
Anse Chastanet’s dedicated scuba diving team, with their profound understanding of this natural occurrence, accurately predicts the timing of the coral spawning each year. First documented in the 1980s at Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, coral spawning is not just a stunning display but is also crucial for the survival of coral reefs and, by extension, our global ecosystems. This annual mass reproduction event is vital for the replenishment and health of coral reefs, which are home to an estimated 25% of all marine life and serve as critical nurseries for many fish species.
Furthermore, coral reefs are vital for human life too. They protect coastlines from storms and erosion, provide jobs for local communities, and offer opportunities for recreation. They are also a source of food and new medicines. Approximately half a billion people rely on reefs for food, income, and protection. Thus, witnessing coral spawning is not only a chance to see one of nature’s most spectacular events but also to gain insight into an essential process that supports both marine and human life.

The Dive Deal package includes:
7 nts run of house accommodation, airport transfers, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, all tax/service, welcome drink and culinary amenity on arrival, 12 beach or boat dives incl of tank, weights, belt, mask, snorkel, fins ( other equipment at a charge if needed, marine park fee to be paid locally ) comp non motorized watersports. Special night dives will be offered on Coral Spawning nights. Night dives are charged at USD $64 plus a coral spawning surcharge of US 30 applies per dive, subject to 10% service charge and 10% VAT for each night dive, payable locally.
A marine park fee of US 15 is to be paid locally. The package is available to certified divers. Please bring your c cards with you. As you are aware certain medical conditions prevent you from diving.
