Important information for divers not staying at Anse Chastanet Resort
Thank you for your interest in Scuba Saint Lucia for your island diving experience. We are located at the south end of Anse Chastanet beach and cater predominantly to divers staying at our resorts Anse Chastanet & Jade Mountain. Established in 1982, we offer some of the most experienced staff on the Island. Most of our instructors have logged well over 2,500 dives and in some cases more than 12,000 dives. We are a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort and also part of DAN Partners in Dive Safety. We accept recognized agency certification cards from all over the world.
All certified divers are asked to make their first dive from the shore on the beautiful Anse Chastanet reef where we take a few moments to check skills including mask removal and replacement and regulator recovery. We do this to ensure that all divers are comfortable in the water and are weighted properly to avoid any problems that might arise during a dive impacting your own and the enjoyment of others.
To dive with us, you would be need to make your own way to our scuba centre at the Anse Chastanet Resort which could be done via land or water taxi or by rental vehicle.
For non-resident certified divers we offer the following diving options:
We do ask you to arrive with us at least 30 minutes prior to your first dive to complete the standard waiver and to gear up. We do have Nitrox available for a modest additional fee. For your convenience you are welcome to store belongings and equipment in our locker room.

For the introductory Discover Scuba Diving or ‘resort’ course, after the instruction on land, you will practice the basic skills in shallow water then dive the beautiful Anse Chastanet reef to a depth of up to 40 feet. The cost for the course is US$125 + 10% Value Added Tax (VAT) & 10% service charge per person; the cost includes equipment and the required course booklet. Repeat beginner dives can be done from our boat on a different Marine Reserve reef site for US$90 + 10% VAT & 10% service charge.
The course is tentatively available at 10:15 am and 1:30 pm daily.
To do the course, participants must meet medical requirements. Attached you will find the Medical History Questionnaire that each potential participant should carefully go through. We need to know in a statement if anyone answers any question ‘YES’; you do not need to actually fill it out at this time. It may mean that a medical release would have to be obtained from a licensed dive physician. This is done, of course, to ensure your safety.
As another option, if preferred, you can do the online portion before arriving at the resort. This will reduce the actual time needed to do the course once with us at Scuba and will also allow you to complete the Medical questionnaire in advance.

The following Reef Life & Renewal Courses and activities are offered to non-resident guests on a private basis to suit your schedule.
This course aims to help educate divers about coral nurseries, including essential facts about coral reefs, threats facing corals, the coral nursery’s function and how to maintain them.
Learning starts with an Instructor led knowledge development session using the Reef Rescue Diver PowerPoint presentation, then complete and review the program’s Knowledge Review and complete two dives which includes the following performance requirements:
· Successfully clean the coral nursery structure without damaging corals.
· Identify and remove any predators from the coral nursery structure and corals.
· Successfully assist in any repairs necessary to the coral nursery (if required)
· Successfully outplant a coral fragment onto reef (optional skill)
Successful participants will earn the Reef Rescue Diver Distinctive Specialty Certification that counts towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
Price: $220 (Plus 10% service charge & 10% tax)
The AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course teaches divers, snorkelers and non-divers about the vital role of coral reefs in the marine environment. The course also familiarizes participants with the current status of the world’s coral reefs and how they can help. Divers and non-divers alike enjoy learning about the aquatic environment.
An introduction to the Project AWARE Foundation covers:
· The importance of coral reefs to marine ecosystems and coastal areas Coral reef biology, association, and competition
· The status of the world’s coral reefs
· How participants can help, including responsible diving and snorkeling practices. It includes an optional dive or snorkel
Price: $80 (plus 10% service charge & 10% tax) – includes materials and certification cost
For additional dive – $80 (plus 10% service charge & 10% tax) or snorkel – $30 (plus 10% service charge & 10% tax)
“What was that fish?” is a common question heard after a dive. If you want to be the scuba diver with the answers, instead of the one asking the questions, then take the Fish Identification Specialty c
ourse. You’ll enjoy your dives even more when you recognize the creatures that you see and can identify the main fish families and their characteristics.
If you’re at least 10 years old and a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or higher, you can enroll in the PADI Fish Identification course.
During two dives you gain hands-on experience in looking for and identifying the fascinating fish you see underwater.
· Covers Project AWARE and aquatic protection worldwide
· Characteristics of local fish families and species
· Fish survey techniques and strategies
· Fish identification, dive planning, organization and procedures
Must be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization). Certification counts towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

The newly revised Project AWARE Specialty course provides information and encouragement to help individuals take responsibility for ocean health.
Building on PADI AWARE’s popular 10 TIPS FOR DIVERS TO PROTECT THE OCEAN PLANET, the revised course content is an introduction to PADI AWARE® as a global movement for ocean protection and focuses on guiding participants towards personal commitments and actions they can take to help the environment.
PROJECT AWARE Foundation is the dive industry’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to conserving the aquatic environment through education, advocacy, and action. Besides completing the Project AWARE Specialty course, you can become a partner in the efforts to preserve the underwater environment and learn:
· The ocean commons and coastal zone issues
· Fisheries challenges and sustainability
· Coral environment overview and inhabitants
· The role of the diver in protecting aquatic environments

Make a difference on every dive by activating your inner citizen scientist. During the Dive Against Debris® Diver Specialty course, you’ll learn how ocean plastic and trash cleanups not only keep your local dive sites healthier, but also how to contribute to a global database that documents our planet’s marine debris problem. Under the guidance of your instructor, you’ll participate in a Dive Against Debris survey and turn your passion for the underwater world into real action.
Take This Course If You Want to:
· Become a citizen scientist for marine conservation
· Learn how you can truly make a difference for our oceans
· Keep your local dive sites clean from ocean plastic and debris
Learn How to:
· Identify which objects should and shouldn’t be removed from the ocean
· Conduct a survey: Sort, record and report the marine debris you collect
· Contribute to PADI AWARE Foundation’s global database
Prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization)

Learn about the Lionfish issues and what challenges we face to control this invasive species. Then go on 2 dives with an experienced Lionfish instructor and remove these alien species from our reefs. Do not worry, they will not go to waste. why not sign up for our special gourmet lionfish Friday private dinners (surcharge), where you will enjoy the lionfish, you caught prepared by world renowned chefs. All dishes are paired with a selection of wines, and all served on a private candle lit beach side table with beach bonfire!
Divers must be at least15 years old and have demonstrated proficient buoyancy before undertaking the course which includes 2 dives. Course materials are included.
Counts towards the PADI Master SCUBA Diver rating.
Successful participants will earn the Invasive Lionfish Tracker Specialty Certification.

The Sea Turtle Awareness Distinctive Specialty course introduces divers and snorkelers to basic sea turtle identification and conservation. The goals of Sea Turtle Awareness course training are:
· To familiarize students with the role of Project AWARE in preserving the aquatic environment
· To introduce sea turtle species common in temperate or tropical waters
· To provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to identify turtles and record sightings
· To inform about decline in sea turtle populations, importance of sea turtles to marine biodiversity and what they can do to reduce the loss of sea turtles worldwide
Prerequisite certification for divers: PADI Junior Open Water Diver or equivalent.
Non-diver route: Snorkelers may participate in the course
Price for divers: $180 (plus 10% service charge & 10% tax) – includes materials and certification cost
For snorkelers: $80 (plus 10% service charge & 10% tax)

PLEASE NOTE: Certain medical conditions may preclude one from participating in diving activities. Review a copy of the DIVING MEDICAL FORM to ensure your fitness for diving prior to your arrival. If you have a known diving medical contraindication, we strongly suggest t hat you bring/ fax us a release from your physician prior to your arrival. The release must be from a dive medicine physician or have consulted with a dive medicine physician. We reserve the right to ref use diving to any person with a diving medical condition.
